COMMUNITY SERVICE

Our primary focus is on our local community and thus our efforts are directed to  help the homeless, needy, aged, less fortunate and our youth.

  • At Christmas, we purchase items and assemble Christmas hampers which

members personally deliver to the aged in the RAAFA Merriwa and Cambrai

villages. Last year we delivered 30 hampers and this year we have

distributed 50 hampers. These were delivered to the Mercycare hub at Merriwa

for distribution to the less fortunate, needy and homeless in the area.

  • In winter, during Homelessness Week, we donated 30 backpacks to Mercycare,

Merriwa, containing essential items that the needy and homeless require to

survive the cold winter weather.  An additional 10 backpacks were distributed by

our members to the homeless that they encountered during their daily travels.

  • For Easter, we assembled a number of Easter Hampers and distributed these to

families within our local Community. It was a way of bringing some cheer to those

      who are less fortunate.

  • In Spring, (to complete the "4 seasons" activities), we propose to stage a morning/afternoon tea for the aged and infirm.

  • We are making life a little easier for a struggling local family who have 4 children with medical problems, by assisting them with renovations to their house in order to enable full wheelchair access and controlled environment.

  • We get involved with the local community by undertaking one of our trademark activities i.e. sausage sizzles. These are usually fundraisers but in some cases we support other caring organisations by simply helping out. For example, we assisted the Capricorn Riding for the Disabled organisation in their fundraising by volunteering our time to operate a sausage sizzle at their special anniversary event.

Our fundraising sizzles/events have been at:

  • Bunnings (Mindarie),

  • Taylor Estate (Caversham),

  • four at Catalina Estate (Clarkson/Mindarie),

  • Amberton Estate (Eglinton),

  • Opening of the Quinns Mindarie Community Centre

  • Opening of butler train station

  • Community movie Night at Butler (with Satterley Property Group)

  • Wine tasting/sales (in conjunction with Conti's wines)

It is a non-profit charitable organisation that provides a variety of programmes to counsel and support predominantly low income families and individuals of all ages and cultures in the northern suburbs Wanneroo and Joondalup).
